Portuguese Grand Prix Tour 2027

13th—27th June

Portugal has not had a Grand Prix since the days of Covid when they stepped into the breach, held two races in 2020 and 2021 and Lewis Hamilton won them both! Now they have Grands Prix in 2027 and 2028
We’ve put together a trip which will give great driving, great hotels, stunning scenery and a range of fun driving and stops. Spanish and Portuguese roads are in the main very quiet and where we’re going, great fun to drive on! The route to the circuit is well known as we go there every year for the Classic race meeting, but we’ll be coming back a different way to make the trip a bit shorter and less pricey
Starting with an afternoon crossing from Plymouth to Santander on the luxury Pont Aven, we get a mid afternoon arrival so there’s time for a scenic run through the Picos de Europa mountains before running on to our first stop at Segovia with its fairytale palace, Roman aqueduct and buzzing city centre; we’re staying a short cab ride away, with great views over the city and the cathedral.
After Segovia it’s off for two nights at Hacienda Zorita, just outside Salamanca. This is an outstanding wine hotel, Christopher Columbus stayed there twice and the wonderful ancient centre of Salamanca is a short drive away, the food is always outstanding. Our next stop is at Merida, a world heritage city and the site of the best preserved Roman ruins in Iberia, the Emperor Trajan was Spanish! Then we head south to Huelva on a fantastic and just resurfaced road and then straight into Portugal to Alvor , which is just 12 miles from the circuit. The stay here will be four nights so we’ve gone bed and breakfast so you can escape to the many bars and restaurants of nearby Alvor. We stay here for four nights to give you some seaside chill time as well
After Portugal we’re back to Spain and passing Seville to Carmona, a traditional white hilltop village where we stay in a Moorish Castle which dates back to the C14. Paradores claim it’s one of their best stops and after many stays—we agree
From Carmona we go to Guadalupe in Extramadura. This is an area with great driving just about everywhere. Guadalupe is a small village with a huge monastery and we are staying in a restored convent. However for people who like challenging driving, when you leave you can go up the EX118—we think it’s Spain’s greatest driving road, so we keep it quiet!

The next stop is Toledo for a night with a great view and great city and then skirt Madrid over some super mountain passes for our last night in the wonderful 17th Century Palace Hotel in Lerma with a cool Saturday drive to the ferry
The trip will be limited to 20 cars and Alex Falkowski will accompany this group.

Great Driving, Great Hotels and a Grand Prix!
