Ferrari Atlantic Coast Adventure

8-20 June 2027

We had such a great time in the Pyrenees in 2026 that it would be unwise to do an immediate reprise, so instead we’re going to explore the Atlantic Coast with some super stops on a tried and tested route. We start with the Plymouth to Santander Ferry, saving a whole night compared to a Portsmouth crossing and on arrival we head to San Sebastian—on the coast with the Pyrenees just behind. We have a hill top hotel which used to be a casino, with just the best sea views. We’re doing this two night stop bed and breakfast as San Sebastian is famous for its Pinxto (large tapas) bars and they’re a real experience. The restaurants are all superb and the whole city feels like it’s having a party, so we’ll be joining in. This is the only stop in common with 2026—but everyone loved it so much and it is on the Atlantic Coast!

We then go to the little province of Asturias to stay at the 5* Palacio de Luces. It’s a superb hotel right next to a little fishing port. Nothing is too much trouble and after the hustle and bustle of San Sebastian it’s a great spot to chill out. If you are a Fernando Alonso fan, his amazing museum is about half an hour away and there are a lot of Ferraris in it.

We keep heading west for Cap Finistere and our next stop is just a few miles away from the Cape. The new Parador at Costa da Morte on the skeleton coast is a wonderful location. Great views and a super building that seems to be hiding in its surroundings. It’s ten minutes walk to a white sand beach with hardly anyone on it.

Next we go to Baiona on the West Coast—we stay in a fortified mansion on a promontory with views over the sea and over the Marina which boasts a recreation of one of Columbus’ ships. This stop has been a firm favourite for years so get there early—unless you want to stop at Santiago de Compostella—it’s on the way

So as not to retrace our steps we then go for two nights at Santo Estevo, this converted monastery nestles in a valley near the confluence of the Mino and Sil rivers. The Sil rises in Cantabria so it’s pretty large as it flows nearby and boat trips on the river are possible.

The next day takes us on a stunning drive right over the Picos de Europa to Mirador de La Franca. This is a lovely beach front hotel overlooking a little cove and its just down a stairway to the beach. It’s reminiscent of what the seaside was like when we were children! We have two nights here before the short trip to Bilbao for a lunchtime departure to Portsmouth
