Spring in Andalucia

27 March – 4 April 2025

Drive Espana has been running Spanish driving tours for discerning drivers since 2004. Clients love the combination of empty roads, great driving and views and superb hotels—not to mention great company. It’s Jasper Gilder’s company and he’s been an owner since 2002 so it seemed a good idea to do a driving adventure which starts and finishes at La Manga Club
We go before Easter in late March when Spring is here, the blossom and spring flowers everywhere and the baking heat of summer a few months off. We are going to some of the gems of Andalucia – Granada with the Alhambra and the skiing centre, Seville with the Alcazar, Cathedral and wonderful old town. Next we go to Cordoba for the amazing Mezquita and we break the journey back at Jaen where our hotel offers helicopter views of the city

Thur 27 March Dinner at La Manga Club Owners Clubhouse—getting to know you session and distribution of roadbooks, maps and route details
Fri 28 March Leave La Manga and drive via Lorca to Granada and on to Hotel Hacienda Senorio de Nevada at Durcal, 20 miles south of Granada with amazing views of the Mountains—It’s 220 easy miles and we are here for two nights
Sat 29 March Free day! Visit the Alhambra – advance booking essential but we’ll point you in the right direction. You could go to the Ski Resort at the Sierra Nevada or head south to the Med about 40 miles South at Motril.
Sun 30 March Drive 160 miles through Andalucia to Carmona, a Moorish hilltop castle overlooking the Sevilian Plain. Just 20 mins outside Seville it’s a haven of peace and tranquillity. Michael Portillo has a house in Carmona.
Mon 31 March Free day! If enough want to do it we’ll organise a minibus into the city and a guide for a walking tour. There is much to see, the Alcazar, the Cathedral with Columbus’ Tomb, the Giralda which a horse can be ridden up—not to mention the ‘kissing street’
Tues 1 April It’s only 65 miles to Cordoba, but you may want to go on to visit Madinat Al-Zahra, the C10th City/Palace built by the Moors and sacked 100 years later. There are fascinating remains. We stay at the Parador which overlooks the city
Wed 2 April Free day! Go into Cordoba and visit the Mezquita (book in advance again) it’s like being in an indoor forest and the most amazing building, Visit the Alcazar where Ferdinand and Isabella signed off on Columbus’ voyage or hang out near the Guadalquivir river
