Monaco Historic Grand Prix - Historic Racing, Great Drives and Super Stops

5-17 May 2024

May 11-12 is the weekend of the Monaco Historic Grand Prix 2024 and we are organising an innovative trip for the race weekend. There will be departures from both Ireland and Britain and the group will co-ordinate at all points in Spain.
The trip starts with overnight crossings from Rosslare (3 May) and Portsmouth and Plymouth (Both 5 May) to Santander and Bilbao, both with evening sailings and two nights on board (except Plymouth) which is one before the first stop at Pamplona where we have one or two or three nights in a lovely hotel just a short cab-ride into this super town. Next we go to Vielha high in the Pyrenees, approached by a fantastic drive with 20+ tunnels. From Vielha we enter France and stay for a night at Beziers where the hotel has categorised the group as VIPs—with VIP rooms! The next run will get us to Nice where we have three nights at the comfortable Hotel Westminster on the Promenade des Anglais which is a short train ride to Monaco—or take the car as there is parking in Monaco. Want to drive the Route Napoleon? It’s possible on this day
After the racing the journey back is no anti-climax. The next step is Chateau Ayres which is close to the Milau Bridge before the group re-enters Spain through the Bielsa tunnel. A few miles further on is Monte Perdido—the lost mountain with a Parador next door. The most peaceful place, mobile phones don’t really work there, but in May there should still be snow on the mountain tops and little avalanches with meltwater waterfalls that stop flowing at night
The last full days driving gives a chance for spectacular driving out of the Pyrenees to San Sebastian where we have a hill top hotel overlooking the bay and city. It’s a short cab ride to the Pinxto (Tapas) bars and a great evening out can be had, eating in a
totally different way in the midst of a busy nightlife. After San Sebastian it’s a short drive to Bilbao for the overnight ferries back to Rosslare or Portsmouth
